JUNE 10, 2005 - HASBROUCK NAMED NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR CORTLAND, NY: The name on the award has changed, but the USILA Division II Men's Lacrosse Coach of the Year has made his home at Limestone College for the second year in a row. Chris Hasbrouck and five other Saints were among those honored at the USILA All-American Banquet in Cortland, NY on Friday. Just in time for the team's first practice last fall, Limestone College announced the hiring of Chris Hasbrouck as head coach of the renowned Limestone Men's Lacrosse Program. The team had made an appearance in five consecutive Division II National Championship games and expectations could not have been higher. Coming from another storied program, Salisbury University, Hasbrouck was used to the pressure. He exceeded expectations in his first year and was rewarded with the STX-Geico Coach of the Year Award. Hasbrouck is the third Limestone coach to win the award; T.W. Johnson won the honor in 2004 and Mike Cerino won the award in 2000. A humble but honored Hasbrouck said, "This award is a testament to our players and all the hard work that they put in this year. I don't score goals and make saves. At the end of they day it's the players who play the game." Hasbrouck went on to say that leading a team to the national championship game in his first year as head coach was quite a thrill. "To be playing on our sport's biggest stage at the end of the year exceeded my expectations. We did not get the result that we wanted, but if anything this will refocus my energy to get it done next year." The 2005 Saints put quite a dent in the Division II record book. The Saints tied the school record for wins in a season and fell just one shy of the Division II mark with a record of 15-2. They also broke the school and Division II records for goals and points in a season with 339 goals and 521 points. Their 19.35 goals per game and average margin of victory of 12.82 rank second all-time in Division II. Incidentally, the 2000 Limestone team holds both of those records at 19.63 goals per game and an average margin of victory of 13.13. Those numbers combined to give the Saints their seventh consecutive Deep South Conference Title and a record breaking sixth consecutive appearance in the final. Limestone also extended its Division II record for consecutive conference wins to 61 and counting, and their 9th consecutive winning season ranks 3rd in Division II history. Under Hasbrouck's guidance the team produced five All-American's who were also honored Friday night. Roger Vyse and Nolan Heavenor were named 1st-team All-American while David Wooster and Sean McQuin earned 2nd-team honors and Marty Ward was an honorable mention selection. Friday night's banquet leads up to Saturday's North/South Classic, a game which will feature Limestone's David Wooster. Wooster is one of three Division II players invited to play in the Division I All-Star game. In three seasons at Limestone, he has put up some outstanding numbers. In his tenure, the team has an overall record of 43-6. He never lost a game to a Deep South Conference opponent and never allowed his team to fall short of the NCAA Division II National Championship Game. His 137 career goals rank 7th in Division II history, while his 210 career points rank 13th and his 73 assists rank 18th. JUNE 10, 2005 - ROGER VYSE: BEST EVER? CORTLAND, NY: Roger Vyse (Six Nation's Reserve, Ontario, Canada) was one of six Saints honored at tonight's All-American Banquet in Cortland, NY. Vyse was a 1st-team All-American selection after having one of the great seasons of all-time. Vyse had arguably the greatest season in the history of Division II Men's Lacrosse. He led his team to within inches of a National Championship and, in the process, broke Doug Fry's (UMBC, '71) 34 year old Division II record of 70 goals in a season. Vyse scored multiple goals in every game this season. He finished his career with a streak of 31 games with a goal (25 straight with multiple goals). This season he had two of the greatest single game performances in Division II history with 12 points (8 goals, 4 assists) against Catawba and 10 points (9 goals, 1 assist) against Lees-McRae. The best an opponent could hope for was to contain Vyse. Against then 8th ranked Dowling, he recorded 4 points on 2 goals and 2 assists as the Saints took a 15-10 win. Against then 6th ranked Adelphi he had a dominating performance with 9 points on 6 goals and 3 assists as Limestone took a 19-12 victory. Against #1 and undefeated LeMoyne Vyse led his team with 5 points on 4 goals and an assist, and Limestone took a 9-8 win in Syracuse to advance to the championship game. By season's end, Vyse had led Limestone to a 15-2 record and a narrow 14-13 overtime loss in the Division II Final. He recorded an all-time record 71 goals, and his 100 points rank 8th all-time and were the most since Bob Engelke (Adelphi) had 109 points (30 goals, 79 assists) in 1979. This season Vyse proved himself to be one of the great Saints of all-time and placed himself among some exclusive company in Division II history. In spite of a resume that was certainly unmatched this season, and had but few rivals in Division II history, Vyse was not named STX/USILA Attackman of the Year and therefore was not even on the ballot for Player of the Year. MAY 28, 2005 - FIVE SAINTS NAMED ALL-AMERICAN PHILADELPHIA, PA: The STX/USILA All-American Men's Lacrosse teams were announced today. Five Saints were among those honored. Limestone (15-1) will take on NYIT in Sunday's Division II national championship game. Roger Vyse, who is one goal short of a 34 year old record of 70 goals in a single season, was named first team at Attack. Joining Vyse on the first team was midfielder Nolan Heavenor who has won over 70 percent of his face-offs this year. David Wooster, who ranks 13th in Division II history with 210 career goals, was named second team at attack. Junior defender Sean McQuin who has anchored a young defense was also named second team All-American. Sophomore goalkeeper Marty Ward, who ranks third in the nation with a .624 save percentage, was awarded honorable mention honors. Sunday's national championship game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on CSTV. Limestone fans can also call the Saints Hotline (864-488-8219) for continuous in-game updates. MAY 28, 2005 - SAINTS READY FOR BIG GAME PHILADELPHIA, PA: The Limestone College men's lacrosse team made the trek from Gaffney to Philly Friday morning. Since stepping off the plane, they have been soaking up the atmosphere and preparing to take on a powerful New York Tech team. The Saints have kept their focus from the moment they arrived in Philadelphia, as they try to erase the memory of an 11-10 double overtime loss in last year's final. Limestone immediately went to St. Joseph's University for a practice session at the home of the Hawks. Friday night, the Saints joined the five other lacrosse teams here in Philadelphia for the Lacrosse Championship Banquet. After a set back in travel plans on Saturday, Limestone had another practice section at University of Pennsylvania, and then went to Lincoln Financial Field to get their first look at the stadium. At the Stadium, Limestone players took time to sign autographs for young fans and took the field for the first time. The Saints are set for a rematch of the 2002 and 2003 title games. Limestone took the 2002 game, but NYIT defeated the Saints 9-4 in 2003. This year's contest, Limestone's 6th consecutive trip to the final, is a battle of the top-two offenses in all of NCAA Lacrosse. Sunday's title game will be broadcast on CSTV (DirecTV Channel 610 and selected cable systems). The game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. Limestone fans can also call the Saints Hotline (864-488-8225) for continuous in-game updates. MAY 26, 2005 - SECOND SECOND CHANCE FOR SAINTS GAFFNEY, SC: The Limestone College men's lacrosse team has talked all year about redemption. Last Saturday they got a second chance to take on a LeMoyne team that delivered a devastating 11-10 double overtime loss in the 2004 title game. Limestone washed out the bitter taste of that defeat with a 9-8 win over the #1 Dolphins to advance to this year's final where they will face the New York Institute of Technology. That game will mark yet another second chance for the Saints. In their last meeting with the Bears, NYIT took a 9-4 win in the 2003 final which spoiled Limestone's bid at back-to-back titles and marked their worst loss in a championship game. By defeating #1 and defending champion LeMoyne last weekend, Limestone advanced to the Division II national championship for a record 6th consecutive year. Prior to the 2000 season, Limestone's Men's Lacrosse Program held a mediocre all-time record of 61-53. In that magical 2000 campaign, the Saints went 14-2 and defeated C.W. Post to take their first national championship. That remarkable season sparked a record setting period of excellence. Since 2000, Limestone holds a record of 83-13 (.865). The 2005 Saints have tied the school record for wins in a season and are just one shy of the Division II record at 15. They have also broken the school and Division II records for goals and points in a season with 326 goals and 502 points. If the season ended today, their 20.31 goals per game and average margin of victory of 13.63 would also shatter the Division II records of 19.63 (Limestone, 2000) and 13.13 (Limestone, 2000). Limestone also holds the Division II record for consecutive conference wins at 61 and counting, and their 9 consecutive winning seasons rank 3rd in Division II history. On Sunday, two storied lacrosse programs will face-off. The Bears lead the all-time series with the Saints 3-1. Their last two meetings also came in national title games. Limestone edged out NYIT 11-10 for the 2002 title, but the Bears took the 2003 title game 9-4. Sunday's game is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA. The game will be broadcast live on College Sports Television which is available on DirecTV (channel 610) and selected cable systems. Limestone fans can also call the Saints Hot Line (864-488-8225) for continuous in-game updates. MAY 26, 2005 - PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: ROGER VYSE GAFFNEY, SC: On Sunday, Limestone College's Roger Vyse (Six Nations Reserve, Ontario, Canada) looks to put an explanation point on one of the greatest seasons, not only in Limestone history, but in the history of NCAA Division II Lacrosse. The senior attackman is currently breathing some rarified air. He enters the national championship game with 69 goals, which is just one shy of Doug Fry's (NYIT, 1971) 34 year old single season Division II record. Vyse also ranks second in Division II history with 30 consecutive games with a goal. NYIT's Paul Montali hopes to extend his record streak to 38 games on Sunday. Vyse, who transferred from Herkimer Community College last season, has scored a goal in every game he has played at Limestone except his very first contest, a 27-4 win over Mars Hill. With 12 points on 9 goals and 3 assists against Lees-McRae (3/30) and 10 points on 8 goals and 2 assists against Mars Hill (2/26) Vyse has two of the best single game performances in Division II history this season. His 98 points (a Limestone College record) this season rank 9th all-time while his 4.31 goals per game rank 10th, and his 5.16 points per game rank 7th. This season has been a tremendous cap to an outstanding career for Roger. In two season's of play, his 3.65 career goals per game are 5th best all-time and his 160 points rank 22nd in Division II history. Limestone (15-1) will take on New York Institute of Technology (9-2) on Sunday in the Division II National Championship game. That game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA, and will be broadcast live on CSTV which is available on DirecTV (channel 610) and selected cable systems. Limestone fans can also call the Saints Hotline (864-488-8225) for continuous in-game updates. MAY 26, 2005 - WOOSTER TO PLAY IN NORTH-SOUTH GAME GAFFNEY, SC: Senior attackman David Wooster (Annapolis, MD) will be the 10th member of the Limestone Men's Lacrosse Program to play in the annual North-South All-Star game. The 2005 game marks the 64th annual North-South Classic. The game is a senior all-star game with squads made up primarily of Division I athletes. Only two Division II players are awarded the honor of playing in the game. The Saints have had a player in the prestigious game for seven consecutive years. On Sunday, Wooster will wrap up an outstanding career. In three seasons he has put up some outstanding numbers. In his tenure, the team has an overall record of 43-6. He never lost a game to a Deep South Conference opponent and never allowed his team to fall short of the NCAA Division II National Championship Game. His 137 career goals rank 7th in Division II history, while his 210 career points rank 13th, and his 73 assists rank 18th. MAY 20, 2005 - ONE LAST TUNE UP SYRACUSE, NY: The Limestone College men's lacrosse team arrived in Syracuse Thursday evening. Friday afternoon the team got one last tune up before they take on LeMoyne on Saturday. Today's practice went smoothly, and the Saints are focused on one thing, knocking off the defending national champion Dolphins who are on a 30 game winning streak. With Syracuse University out of competition for the Division I title, local media here has taken to this intriguing match up. The game will be broadcast live on Time Warner Sports 26 in the Syracuse area and will be broadcast nationally on CSTV (check your local listings) on Monday, May 23, at 8:00 p.m. In the only two meetings between the Saints and Dolphins, LeMoyne has taken two wins by a combined two goals. Of course that includes last year's double overtime National Championship game. The only other meeting between the schools resulted in an 11-10 Dolphin win on Saints Field on opening day of the 2003 season. That loss broke up two impressive home field winning streaks for Limestone. The Saints have won 40-of-41 home games. Their 24 game streak prior to that loss is one shy of the Division II record. With a chance at redemption against LeMoyne, and a sixth consecutive trip to the championship game on the line, the Saints clearly have a lot to play for. The Dolphins do as well, as they try to win-back-to back titles and continue their 30 game winning streak which is already a Division II record. A large crowd is expected to flood Thomas J. Niland Field on Saturday. Estimates range as high as 5,000 for a field that has a capacity of approximately 1,000. The crowd will not rival the 19,202 fans who were on hand to see the 2004 final, but it will certainly provide an incredible atmosphere for what should be an outstanding game. Tickets will go on sale at the gate at 10:00 a.m. with the game set to begin at 12:00 p.m. The game will be available in Central/Northern New York on Time Warner Sports. Limestone fans can also dial into the Saints Hotline at 864-488-8225 for continues in-game updates, and CSTV will air the game Monday night at 8:00 p.m. MAY 18, 2005 - SAINTS SET TO BATTLE DOLPHINS GAFFNEY, SC: On paper Saturday's men's lacrosse semifinal looks like a great matchup. The nation's best offense will face the nation's best defense. Add in Limestone's 0-2 all time record against LeMoyne including last year's double overtime heartbreaker in the national title game, and the fact that the two school's have been ranked first and second in every poll this season, and then put a national title shot on the line, and it appears that Saturday's contest could be a battle for the ages. No other offense has come close to the numbers that the Saints have put up thus far in 2005. The same can be said of LeMoyne's defense. Limestone is averaging 21.07 goals per game, nearly three goals better than Salisbury's (Division III) 18.25. Meanwhile, LeMoyne has allowed a paltry 2.86 goals per game, besting Daniel Webster's (Division III) 3.33. The Saints and Dolphins also rank first and third respectively in average margin of victory. Limestone has outscored its opponents by 14.47 goals per game while the Dolphins take an average margin of 10.71. The 2005 Saints are looking to carve the Limestone name a little deeper into the record books. With a win on Saturday, the Saints would set the record for consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division II National Final with six. They hope to ride their run and gun offense to that end. Roger Vyse leads the Limestone offense. He currently leads the nation in points (6.2) and goals (4.33) per game. His 93 points and 65 goals are both school records for a single season. Add David Wooster, Bobby Woody, and Nolan Heavenor to the mix and Limestone has four players with over 60 points a piece. By contrast, LeMoyne's leading scorer, Mike McDonald, has just 50 points on 33 goals and 17 assists. Limestone's fab four all rank in the top 12 in the nation for points per game, and the team has already set Limestone's single season record with 317 goals scored. To put it simply, the Saints' attack is loaded. LeMoyne is currently riding a 30 game winning streak. After running the table in 2004 with a 16-0 mark and a national title, the Dolphins have compiled a 14-0 record in 2005 and are just two wins shy of back-to-back championships. Limestone fans will remember LeMoyne's Brandon Spillett who lit the Saints up for seven goals in last year's final (one shy of a championship game record) including the game tying goal with two seconds remaining in regulation and the game winner in the second overtime period. Spillett's season has been slowed by a knee injury but he has played in every game and ranks 3rd on the squad with 31 points. The Dolphins have thrived on defense, allowing just 40 goals all season. Game time for Saturday's contest, which will take place in the lacrosse hotbed of Syracuse, NY, has been moved up to 12:00 p.m. to accommodate local television broadcasts. Tickets will be available at the gate beginning at 10:00 a.m. Ticket Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. Limestone fans can also receive continuous in-game updates by calling the Saints Hotline at 864-488-8225. There is a lot riding on Saturday's game for both schools. Limestone is looking for its sixth consecutive trip to the final. LeMoyne is looking to extend its 30 game winning streak. A simple chance at the title game would have been more than enough to bring out the best in both teams. MAY 9, 2005 - TOP TEAMS WILL FACE-OFF IN SEMIFINAL GAFFNEY, SC: The pairings for the NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Semifinals have been set. In the selection process one team from each region (North, Central, and South) and one at large team were selected. Teams selected from the same region will be pitted against one another in semifinal action. The regional selections were Limestone from the South, C.W. Post from the Central, and LeMoyne from the North with NYIT getting the at large bid out of the Central Region. That means that in semifinal action, LeMoyne and Limestone who have been ranked #1 and #2 respectively in every poll this season will face-off in a semifinal. That game will be played at LeMoyne (Syracuse, NY) on either Saturday, May 21 or Sunday, May 22. Of course the Saints and Dolphins last met in the 2004 title game in which LeMoyne took an 11-10 win in an incredible double overtime game. LeMoyne is currently undefeated at 14-0 while Limestone, 14-1, suffered its only loss of the season earlier today at the hands of 5th ranked Mercyhurst. The two teams seem to have been on a collision course all season. Limestone has the nation's top scoring offense at over 21 goals per game while LeMoyne boasts the nation's stingiest defense at just over 3 goals allowed per game. The two teams rank 1st and 2nd in average margin of victory. Limestone has taken an average margin of victory of over 15 while the Dolphins have outscored their opponents by nearly 11 goals per game. In the other semifinal, C.W. Post will host NYIT. The winners of the two semifinal contests will meet in the National Championship game on May 29 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA. APRIL 28, 2005 - SAINTS SET FOR SENIORDAY SHOWDOWN GAFFNEY, SC: The Limestone men's lacrosse team will put its 13-0 record on the line against Division I Bellarmine University on Saturday in what looks to be one of the toughest matchups on Saints Field in recent years. Prior to the game, scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start, the Saints will honor their 12 seniors. The class of 2005 has an overall record of 54-7. They have never lost a game against a DSC opponent, taking 4 DSC Championships. They have won 16 consecutive home games dating back to the opening game of the 2003 season, an 11-10 loss to LeMoyne. The senior class has played in 3 national championship games, winning the title in their freshman season of 2002. In their junior campaign, they set school records with 15 wins and a winning percentage of 88% while tying the school record for goals in a season with 314. This year, Limestone leads the nation, including all NCAA Divisions, with over 22 goals per game and an average margin of victory of over 16 goals per game. They rank 2nd in Division II with just over 6 goals allowed per game. Roger Vyse (Six Nations Reserve Ontario, Canada) has led the Limestone attack. Vyse was named DSC Player of the Year and Tournament MVP. He leads the nation, including all NCAA Divisions, with 6.77 points and 4.62 goals per game. This season, Vyse has already set a school record for goals in a single season with 60 and has tied Nick Carlson's school record of 88 points in a single season. Saturday's game will feature two very similar teams. Bellarmine enters the game with a record of 13-1. The Knights are averaging 14.39 goals per game while allowing just 7.69 goals per game. They have taken wins over some opponents who are familiar to Limestone fans, defeating Mars Hill 22-10, Pfeiffer 23-5, Wheeling Jesuit 22-9, St. Andrews 14-11, Catawba 15-8, and Mercyhurst 13-12 (OT). The Knight's lone loss of the season was a nail biting 8-7 loss at Butler. Saturday's game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. face-off, but fans are encouraged to arrive early as Senior Day festivities should start at approximately 1:45. April 26, 2005 LIMESTONE'S ROGER VYSE NAMED DSC TOURNAMENT MVP ROCKHILL, SC: Limestone College senior attackman Roger Vyse, who had 12 goals in three tournament games, including six in the championship, was named Most Valuable Player of the 2005 Deep South Conference men's lacrosse tournament. Vyse, who was named the league's Player of the Year last week, was one of six Saints named to the All-Tournament Team. Joining Vyse are attackman David Wooster, midfielders Nolan Heavenor, Bobby Woody, and Pat Cardiff, and defender Sean McQuin. Heavenor and Wooster each scored four goals in the championship game. Runner-up Catawba placed two on the All-Tournament team in midfielder Jason Collier and goalie Frank Fish. Collier had five goals in a semifinal win over Queens University of Charlotte, while Fish had 20 saves in that win over Queens. Queens placed Nick Mezzanotte and defender Pat Halsch on the All-Tournament team. Mezzanotte scored two goals in the final 25 seconds in a one-point loss to Catawba in the semifinals. Bryan Riddell of St. Andrews Presbyterian College rounds out the All-Tournament team. Limestone will be back in action this weekend when they take on Division I Bellarmine at Saints Field in Gaffney, SC. The Knights currently hold a record of 13-1 and have won each of their last seven contests. That game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be preceded by senior day festivities. Arrive early and join in honoring 12 outstanding seniors. April 20, 2005 7 SAINTS NAMED ALL-DSC: VYSE AWARDED PLAYER OF THE YEAR ROCKHILL, SC: Limestone College senior attackman Roger Vyse (Six Nations Reserve, Ontario), who is leading all of Division II in goals per game and points per game, was named the Deep South Conference Player of the Year, the league announced today. Vyse has helped lead the Saints, ranked second in the nation, to an undefeated season thus far and their eighth straight undefeated season in the Deep South. Limestone, who had the top vote getter at each position placed seven Saints on the All-Conference Team, with six being selected to the First Team. Joining Vyse on the First Team are David Wooster, Nolan Heavenor, Pat Cardiff, Sean McQuin, and goalie Marty Ward. Bobby Woody was also awarded Second Team honors. Mars Hill College midfielder Anthony Triolo (Hicksville, NY), who led the Lions with a team-high 30 goals and 12 assists, was named Freshman of the Year. Queens University of Charlotte head Jim Fritz, who led the Royals to a second-place finish in the league in just the team's second year of varsity competition, was named Coach of the Year. Fritz wins this award for the third time in his career. He previously won it twice while head coach at Pfeiffer University. The Deep South Conference Tournament semifinals will be played Friday at Wingate University in Wingate, NC. Limestone will face the St. Andrews at 1 pm. Queens and Catawba will square off at 4 pm. The winners of those contests will meet in the championship game at 2 pm. on Sunday. April 5, 2005 WOOSTER NAMED DSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROCKHILL, SC: For the second time this season, Limestone attackman David Wooster has been named Deep South Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Mars Hill goal keeper Matthew Holthaus took Defensive Player of the Week Honors. Wooster, a senior from Annapolis, MD (Annapolis HS), had three assists in Limestone's 31-1 conference win over Lees-McRae. He followed that with seven goals and one assist in Limestone's 19-6 conference win over St. Andrews. He had three goals in the fourth quarter as Limestone broke away from a 12-6 game with seven unanswered goals in the final period. The 2nd ranked Saints are set to return to action on Saturday, April 9, when they travel to Wheeling, WV, to take on the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals. That game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. March 28, 2005 VYSE NAMED DSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK ROCKHILL, SC: Limestone College attack man Roger Vyse and Queens University of Charlotte goalkeeper Joel Heimbigner have been named the Deep South Conference Players of the Week, the league announced today. Vyse (Six Nations’s Reserve, Ontario, Canada) scored six goals in a 19-3 DSC win over Wingate last week. Vyse’s six goals keep him at the top of the conference’s goals scored and goals per game lists with 29 goals in just 6 games. Heimbigner, a sophomore goalkeeper from Poway, California (Poway HS) helped lead the Royals to a 13-10 victory over St. Andrews, handing the Knights their first conference loss. Heimbigner had 15 saves on 33 shots against St. Andrews, while picking up five ground balls. Heimbigner also had 13 saves in a win over Wheeling Jesuit on March 20. March 22, 2005 WARD NAMED 2-TIME DSC P.O.W ROCKHILL, SC: For the second time this season, Limestone men's lacrosse goal keeper Marty Ward has been named Deep South Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Although Limestone's offense has been putting up gaudy numbers (The Saints are averaging 22 goals per game), it has been the Limestone defense that has been raking in the weekly awards. Limestone has limited its opponents to a paltry 6.8 goals per game, and the defense has been rewarded by taking four out of five Player of the Week awards so far this season. Ward, a sophomore goalkeeper from Syracuse, N.Y. (Corcoran HS), received the award after helping lead the Saints to a 19-12 victory over sixth-ranked Adelphi. Ward made 18 saves, including six in the fourth quarter. Limestone outscored Adelphi 9-2 in the fourth quarter to take their first-ever win over the Panthers. March 17, 2005 SAINTS TRAVEL TO MARYLAND GAFFNEY, SC: The Limestone College men's lacrosse team, ranked 2nd in the nation, will head north to Baltimore, Maryland. Limestone will host the Annual Lacrosse and Alumni Celebration in Baltimore on Friday, and take on 6th ranked Adelphi University in Annapolis on Sunday. Saturday's game will take place at Broadneck High School. The Saints will look to take the program's first win over the Panthers. Adelphi leads the all-time series 5-0. Their last meeting came in the 2001 NCAA Division II National championship Game. Adelphi came away with a 14-10 win in that contest. Coincidentally, Saints Head Coach Chris Hasbrouck never lost to the Panthers in his 11 seasons as an assistant coach at Salisbury. The Saints are off to a 4-0 start this season. In their last game, Limestone took a 22-5 Deep South Conference victory over Queens University of Charlotte. Nolan Heavenor had an outstanding game against the Royals. The senior midfielder tallied 8 points on 5 goals and 3 assists while winning 14-of-16 face-offs. The Panther's opened their season with a 16-4 win over Queens University of Charlotte on March 5. March 16, 2005 PINDER NAMED DEFENSIVE P.O.W. GAFFNEY, SC: Pfeiffer University attack man Robert Bickerstaff and Limestone College defender Matt Pinder have been named the Deep South Conference Players of the Week, the league announced today. Pinder, a sophomore from Centerville, Maryland, had an outstanding game in Limestone's 22-5 conference victory over Queens. He led the defense that limited Queens to just five goals on 18 shots, and also picked up four ground balls. Limestone returns to action this weekend when they travel to Baltimore, MD, to take on 6th ranked Adelphi in a neutral site contest. That game is scheduled to begin. March 9, 2005 TWO SAINTS NAMED P.O.W GAFFNEY, SC: Two Limestone Lacrosse players were named conference player of the week last week while another was named national rookie of the week. Sean McQuin was named Deep South Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Dowling College. McQuin played outstanding defense against Dowling's top scorer as he helped lead the Saints to a big 15-10 win. Aug. 26, 2004 FROM SEA GULL TO SAINT At Salisbury, Hasbrouck helped guide the Sea Gulls to five NCAA Division III National Championships, two runners-up finishes, and a 176-16 record in his eleven year tenure. Most recently Salisbury defeated Nazareth 13-9 in Balitimore, MD, to complete a perfect 20-0 season and give them back-to-back titles. The Sea Gulls have also won National Championships in 1994, 1995, 1999, and 2003. Hasbrouck will now take on the task of leading an extremely talented Limestone squad which will try to break a record with a sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championship Game in the 2005 season. The Saints have reached the title match in each of the last five seasons and earned victories in 2000 and 2002. "Chris Hasbrouck brings a great deal of experience to our lacrosse program," Epperly said. "At Salisbury University, he has been a part of winning several championships. "We were impressed by his work ethic, his positive attitude and most importantly his leadership abilities. We think he will provide the leadership necessary to continue the national success of our lacrosse program. It was a team effort by Limestone College to hire the best person possible for this position." Hasbrouck was very excited about the opportunity to continue the tradition of Limestone Lacrosse. "It was an honor first to be considered for this position and second to actually be chosen. I'd like to thank Dr. Griffin and Mr. Epperly for the opportunity and also for their time and effort put into the search." Hasbrouck said he felt at home the moment he stepped onto the campus in Gaffney. Salisbury has approximately 6,000 students while Limestone has 600. Salisbury is a public institution while Limestone is private, but the differences end there. "Both programs have tremendous tradition. The two teams have a similar style of play and the commitment of their players is unmatched. I had the chance to meet some of the returners, and I was impressed with their drive and will to get better." About the tradition of excellence at Limestone, Hasbrouck said, "I have felt that you don't enjoy the tradition while you're playing. You hope to build on it, and then enjoy it when you're gone. To build a program so quickly into national prominence and then maintain it takes a lot of work from a lot of people. It is a credit to the administration at Limestone and the family and alumni support."
