Apr 19 - Shippensburg 12, Limestone 11 - OT #10 Limestone Slips Against #3 Shippensburg In a game that would see four lead changes and overtime, but not a hint of the sun, the Saints fell short 12-11 in OT. The Saints opened the scoring with a goal by freshman Dawn Smith (Baldwinsville, NY), who would lead the Saints with a career high 5 goals, but Shippensburg came right back and scored two to take a 2-1 lead. The Raiders opened up their lead to 7-3 late in the first half but Smith scored her third of the game with 4 seconds remaining to close the margin to 7-4 at half-time. In the second half the Saints began chipping away at the lead and at the 14:28 mark of the second half took the lead 9-8. Shippensburg answered to take it to 9-9 as Kellie Simms scored her first of what would be three goals on the day. With 56 seconds remaining sophomore Megan Crouse (Gambrills, MD) scored to put the Saints up 10-9. On the next draw the Raiders won possession and got off five quick shots that all were stopped by junior goalie Cindy Watkins (Annapolis, MD). But with 5 seconds remaining the Raiders received a free position shot and scored to force overtime. Shippensburg scored first but the Saints answered with 1:24 remaining with a goal by junior Millie Thillet (Millersville, MD). Apr 15 - Limestone 16, Greensboro College 4 Limestone Wins Two in a Row The win marks the second in a row for the Saints as they now prepare for the final game on the season at #3 Shippensburg University. Davidson led the way for the Saints as she scored a career nine goals and added two assists. Sophomore, Megan Crouse (Gambrills, MD) scored two goals and dished out three assists while sophomore, Erin Zimmerman, (Pasadena, MD) scored three goals and had one assist. Also scoring for the Saints were Kathy Martens (2-0), Jody Kennedy (0-1), Dawn Smith (0-2), Millie Thillet (0-1) and Christina Gribbin (0-1). Greensboro was led by senior, Natalie Serianni with three goals. Apr 13 - Limestone 20, Guilford 8 Limestone Routs Guilford 20-8 Greensboro, NC - On a fine Monday afternoon the Limestone College Women's Lacrosse team (3-6) snapped a four game losing streak as they traveled to Guilford College to take on the Quakers (6-6). When it was all said and done the Saints cruised to a 20-8 victory. Senior Tricia Davidson (Stevensville, MD) returned to last season's form as she led the Saints with seven goals and five assists as she set a Limestone College record with most points in a game at 12. Sophomore Megan Crouse (Gambrills, MD) had a season high six points (3-3), while freshman Jody Kennedy (Ajax, ONT) added five (4-1). Also scoring for the Saints were Erin Zimmerman (3-0), Dawn Smith (1-3), Millie Thillet (1-2), and Kathy Martens (1-0). On the defensive side Vicky Perkins and Cindy Watkins combined for 16 saves on the day. The Quakers were led by Jankowski with three goals while Chapin and Allen each scored two. Lauren Gill made 16 saves on the day. The Saints travel back to Greensboro on Wednesday as they face Greensboro College for a 4pm game. 1ST 2ND FINAL POINTS SAVES |
Mar 24 - Millersville 14, Limestone 10 Hilton Head, SC - Two top ten teams faced off in a neutral site contest today in Division II action. #4 Millersville University (1-1) headed south on their spring break and faced #8 Limestone (2-4)College at MC Reily School in the first meeting of these two programs. Limestone opened the scoring early to take the 1-0 advantage but Millersville answered eight minutes into the game to tie the score at 1. Three minutes later Millersville took the lead and held on for the victory. Although the Saints made it a game right down to the end, Millersville prevailed 14-10. Kellie Connor led the Marauders with 4 goals while Kellie Polinski and Kate LaBarr each added 3. Mar 14 - Limestone 12, Alfred 11 (OT) Limestone Comes From Behind For Sudden Death Victory Gaffney, SC Alfred scored early to take the lead 2-0 on goals by Lindsay Calkins but Limestone was able to answer with a pair of their own by Tricia Davidson (Stevensville, MD) and Kathy Martens (Glen Burnie, MD). By half-time the score was locked again at 5-5. Limestone came out quickly in the second half and scored two to take the lead but Alfred answered and they went up 9-7. The Saints tied the score at 10 with 2:38 left in regulation on a goal by Megan Crouse (Gambrills, MD) but both goalies were able to stop any attempt late in the game. In the first overtime period Lindsay Calkins scored to take a 11-10 lead for the Saxons but Kathy Martens was able to tie the game at 11-11 with only :29 left in the second overtime period forcing a sudden death. On the ensuing draw Dawn Smith (Baldwinsville, NY) controlled the ball and was able to settle down the offense, feeding Tricia Davidson on the low right. Davidson's first shot was saved by Kate Bond but the rebound went right back to Davidson who tucked it into the lower left corner for the game winner. "We played with a great deal of emotion today never giving up. Kathy Martens Christina Gribbin (Crownsville, MD) and Dawn Smith were our drive today, but I have to say Alfred is a tough team with a great goalie in Kate Bond," said Michael Scerbo, Limestone College head coach. The Saints are home again on Friday, March 20 at 4 PM as they host Albany University in a game that pits #7 against #8 in the country. Mar 6 - Limestone 10, Mercyhurst 6 Gaffney, SC The Saints struggled in the first half and trailed for over ten minutes in the beginning of the game but, they were able to regroup to take the lead 4-3 going into intermission. At the start of the second half, Limestone scored three unanswered goals in four minutes, to extend their lead to six and never looked back. Leading the way for the Saints was senior Tricia Davidson (Stevensville, MD) with five goals. Freshman Kathy Martens (Glen Burnie, MD) came into her own with a goal and three assists while fellow freshman Dawn Smith (Baldwinsville, NY) and sophomore Megan Crouse (Gambrills, MD) each added two goals and one assist. On the defensive end of the field sophomore Christina Gribbin (Crownsville, MD) led the way with 3 caused turnovers and ten ground balls. Freshman Vicky Perkins (Manlius, NY) made 10 saves and let in three goals while junior Cindy Watkins (Annapolis, MD) made one save in the second half. "Mercyhurst brought a nice team to town today. It was good to get a win against a good program but, we have to start putting together 60 minutes of lacrosse if we are to be competitive with our difficult schedule," said head coach Michael Scerbo. The Saints play at home again on Thursday, March 12 at 2 pm as Oswego State University comes to Gaffney.
